Busfor vallenta fo.mdina11/20/2023 It’s a completely natural harbour with creeks. The entry into the Grand Harbour of Malta is spectacular as you are surrounded by bastions and fortified cities. Stay at the back or front - sorry aft/stern or forward - to get the best effect of seeing both sides. The ride should take about 30 to 40 minutes for about 9 miles, depending on time and traffic stops. ![]() Make sure you go on deck for the sail in to the Grand Harbour - it's impressive. Re: which bus (es) from Valletta to Mdina You can check the numbers from the Arriva site but I think it is 51, 52 and 53 which are going to Rabat Dingli and Mtarfa, but all pass thru Rabat hill which is near Mdina. Or see if you can get a better price if you haggle with the taxi driver direct. If you do decide to take a taxi to Mdina, take it from where your ship docks as there is a stand from where you buy a voucher so the fare is regulated. Have a look at these as they'll give you a good idea of what to expect.Īpart from Mosta Dome, San Anton Gardens of the Presidential Palace at Attard is also a good stop on the way to Mdina (if you go by taxi) Nothing much I can add to the reply you've had. If you google map it ,you can see the Garden and the trees in the square, maybe even the buses ! It is called Saqqajja square, and is about 300 metres out of the Mdina main gate, past the kiosks on the left and the garden on the right, past the petrol station and the bank on the right. If you take a taxi in the morning, the taxi driver can then show you were you catch the bus. ![]() Once you get at the top of the hill in Rabat past the Petrol station, you need to stop and walk back to Mdina. ![]() If you take a number 80 bus to Rabat, you will see Mdina on the right as you are coming up from Attard past Ta Qali roundabout in a tree lined road. I would advise doing it in reverse get the bus to Mdina or Rabat and check out the roads on the way up then walk back if you think it is safe enough. You will find a taxi stand just outside the main Mdina gate, next to the Karozzin stand. Do not advise trying to walk as the pavements are non existant when you are out out of town, the roads are narrow in places. Personally, I would do it the other way round, take a bus from Valletta to Mdina, early in the morning, when the weather is still cooler and then take a taxi back to Valletta, airconditioned in the afternoon, maybe stopping at Mosta dome or/and the crafts village at Ta Qali on the way back.
